While competition and recital season come to a close in May, our dance year doesn’t end there. In fact, some of the most exciting opportunities we are able to offer you happen during the summer months. This year is no exception, and we can’t wait for our dancers to meet and study under the amazing talent coming to us for our Ballet Summer Intensive. This is a vital opportunity for you to learn under talented Master Teachers, work that technique, and make strides towards your dance goals.
Why do I need a Summer Intensive?
While it is important to give our body a rest and have vacation time with family and friends, stopping your training over the summer is not an option for the serious dancer. You would be amazed how quickly your body can lose fitness, and how fast your body-brain connection can lose the progress you’ve made in technique over this year. The Summer Intensive experience is important for other reasons, too. Unlike the school year, when you have many other commitments to juggle in addition to your time at the studio, Summer Intensives give you the opportunity to train for larger blocks of time throughout the day – and still have plenty of daylight to enjoy with no homework or after school activities to rush to! Having this focused block of time to concentrate on your ballet technique and skills will be invaluable to you in the coming season. You will find that this intensive training experience is a way for you to experience great strides in reaching your goals.
Why do we have Placement Auditions?
Placement Auditions are a method to ensure that each and every one of you is positioned to receive the absolute best training during the Intensive. It isn’t about “getting in” to the “higher level”. It isn’t a competition and no one will “make it” or “not make it”. Each dancer who auditions for placement will be placed into the class where they will learn and grow best. It is about entrusting your training to those who are invested in you – your teachers! We are thrilled to offer this incredible training opportunity to students who do not attend Revolution Dance Academy as well, and Placement Auditions allow us to get to know who you are as a dancer!
Why study at my home studio?
Studios and schools around the country begin auditioning dancers for their summer programs as early as January. There are many wonderful training experiences available to you around the world. So why train at home, rather than going away to another program? Will you receive “better” training elsewhere? While acknowledging the wonderful training available to you, you have entrusted your training to us, and we take that trust very seriously. Your teachers see you, know you, and understand on a deep level where you are strong and where your areas of needed growth are. There is immense benefit to training in an environment where you are a known quantity. Beyond that, we have been working for months to ensure that you have an opportunity to study under world renowned ballet teachers right here at home! We are incredibly excited about our visiting Intensive Faculty this year. We’ve made sure that you will have an incredible training experience, and you’ll be saving a very significant amount of money at the same time.
Speaking of saving money – why do Summer Intensives cost so much?
We understand that some parents have a sense of “sticker shock” when it comes to the price of a Summer Intensive Program. The price comes down to the number of hours your dancer will be training with us, and the studio costs of offering this amazing program. Because we value each and every parent and student we are so blessed to take this journey with, we have spent considerable time researching costs around our city and even studios in Denver. Many studios choose not to undergo the expense of bringing in guest faculty, which is understandable as that cost is considerable. We feel it is important for you to experience training under a variety of teachers with a variety of teaching styles, and we wanted no less than the very best Guest Faculty for all of you. Even with the addition of our amazing guest teachers, we were able to keep our price well below that of other studios, in most cases less than half of the price of other intensives.
