Revolution Dance Academy families rang in the holiday season by seeing the magic of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker at the Pikes Peak Center. Presented by The Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and in partnership with Oklahoma City Ballet, five RDA dancers were selected to perform in the 2018 production:
– Lillyan Farnot (Chinese and Page)
– Cora Sinclair (Soldier)
– Nicole Hamilton (Party Boy)
– Addison Price (Little Angel)
– Gabriella Rae (Lead Angel)
Auditions were held in August and rehearsals were conducted weekly, leading up to the five performances over the Thanksgiving weekend. This is the only professional ballet of The Nutcracker offered in the Pikes Peak Region.
Young dancers from local studios are invited to audition for supporting roles including little mice, gingerbread, bakers and soldiers.
Then beginning on the Monday before opening day all the parties come together to practice, including the Oklahoma City troupe and the orchestra.
2018 was the final year for Oklahoma City Ballet to partner with the Philharmonic. In 2019, another professional
ballet company will take its place. That company has not yet been announced.
The Nutcracker is a holiday tradition for many families and Revolution Dance Academy is always excited to see its beautiful dancers perform on stage.
